DMM jobs and locations to be retained - Ad Alliance remains marketing partner - Federal Cartel Office gives green light
Münster / Hamburg, 3 August 2023: After seven successful years together, Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster is taking over all shares in Deutsche Medien-Manufaktur (DMM) from Gruner + Jahr under the umbrella of RTL Deutschland with retroactive effect from 30 June 2023. DMM's jobs and the two locations in Münster (headquarters) and Hamburg will be retained. In addition, Ad Alliance will continue to be the marketing partner for all DMM brands. The Federal Cartel Office has no objections and has already approved the complete takeover of Deutsche-Medien Manufaktur by Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster.
Deutsche Medien Medien-Manufaktur was founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster and Gruner + Jahr, now RTL Deutschland. Both shareholders previously held a 50 percent stake in DMM. Today, DMM's range includes the strong brands LANDLUST, ESSEN & TRINKEN, ESSEN & TRINKEN FÜR JEDEN TAG, LIVING AT HOME, LAND & BERGE, FLOW, EINFACH HAUSGEMACHT and LANDLUST ZUHAUS. DMM's digital offering has also been steadily expanded. The Landlust Shop, the website landlust.de, the digital event series Kreativzeit and the licensed brand Landlust Hotels with the associated portal Landlust-hotels.com stand for this.
The joint venture has grown steadily under the leadership of managing directors Malte Schwerdtfeger and Alexander von Schwerin and has continued to generate almost constant turnover and very good results despite recently more difficult market conditions.
Friedrich Steinmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster emphasises: „We look forward to successfully developing the DMM further. These have been good and successful years that we have experienced together with Gruner + Jahr at the DMM. The togetherness was borne by a relationship based on partnership. Now we are looking forward to continuing the DMM success story under the umbrella of Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster.“
Bernd Hellermann, CEO Gruner + Jahr: „Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster was and is a very valued and long-standing partner. We are divesting our stake in DMM because we are strategically repositioning ourselves in the publishing business and are pleased that Landwirtschaftsverlag is taking over the shares in full. We at RTL Deutschland will continue to work closely with DMM in the future. Thus, DMM's brands will continue to be marketed by Ad Alliance and Deutsche Medien Vertrieb (DMV) will remain a sales partner.“
